A California judge is hearing the allegations of sexual abuse by a former prison guard, Israel Trevino, and his co-workers at the Central California Women’s Facility in Chowchilla. Twenty-nine women who were incarcerated in the state prison have come forward with claims of sexual abuse by Trevino, who was terminated for sexual misconduct in 2018 but never faced criminal charges. According to the lawsuit filed against the state of California former prison guard Israel Trevino assaulted, groped and forced women to perform oral sex while 100 unnamed co-workers assisted in concealing his deeds.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The women allege that Trevino and his colleagues used their authority to coerce them into submitting to sexual assaults and to prevent them from reporting the abuse out of fear of retaliation, longer sentences, and other consequences. The fact that Trevino passed away in May 2021 means that he cannot be held accountable for these allegations, but it is important that justice is served for the victims.<\/p>\n
