Miami-Dade inmate incarcerated since 2022 reports being 3 months pregnant

A female inmate in West Miami-Dade who has been held on a second-degree murder charge since the summer of 2022, recently informed her sister, Crystal Bareto that she was three months pregnant. Daisy revealed that she had been sexually assaulted while in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

Crystal, deeply concerned for her sister’s safety, took immediate action by filing a complaint with Miami-Dade Corrections. She expressed fear for Daisy’s well-being and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the reported assault.

In response to the complaint, Miami-Dade Corrections spokesperson Juan Diasgranados confirmed the pregnancy in a statement to Channel 7 Investigates. However, he added that there is currently no evidence of sexual battery on the inmate, and the circumstances leading to the pregnancy are under investigation.

Crystal, frustrated with the response she received, expressed her dissatisfaction, claiming that authorities seem more focused on preventing media involvement than addressing the serious issues surrounding her sister’s case.

As the investigation unfolds, a source involved in the process revealed that Daisy informed jail investigators that she impregnated herself using sperm passed to her from a male inmate. The family, however, disputes this claim, asserting that Daisy was coerced by guards into making such statements.

The family is now urging the correctional center to identify and investigate the actual father of the child.
