Between extreme discounts and holiday shopping prep, Walmart has been busy.
However, the retailer is about to be even busier with the announcement of new express late-night deliveries through 10:00 p.m. Shoppers will have to place their orders by 9:30 p.m. local time, and orders will be delivered to their doors within 30 minutes.
“Life doesn’t always happen on schedule, and Walmart understands that implicitly,” said Tom Ward, chief eCommerce officer at Walmart. “That’s why we’re thrilled to offer Online Pickup and Delivery at over 4,000 stores nationwide and introduce our latest edition: late-night delivery.
“This is about more than just staying up late – it’s about building a suite of Pickup and Delivery options that prioritize convenience, speed, and putting the customer at the very center.”
Updated delivery time slots
While getting your Walmart order later at night is probably the biggest update, this new delivery option also comes with some other new features.
For starters, when placing your order, you can choose between On-Demand Delivery or Express Delivery. With the former, shoppers can choose a time slot for their delivery that best suits their schedule either that day or even early the next morning. With Express Delivery, orders will be delivered in 30 to 90 minutes.
When placing these orders, customers will also have the experience of utilizing the Live Shopper, which will make it easy to add things or edit your order. Consumers can text in real-time with their Live Shopper, so they’ll be able to add any last-minute items or talk through possible substitutions for items that may not be available.
For Walmart+ members, there’s even the option for InHome when placing online orders. With this service, orders will be delivered straight inside your home, rather than left out on your front porch. Walmart+ members can also return items directly to the store with this service, without ever having to leave the house.
All of these new delivery options are available now on the Walmart website and mobile app – shoppers can start placing their late-night delivery orders.
“At the heart of the innovation in our Pickup and Delivery business is the customer,” Ward said. “Each thing we do aims to put the power in their hands – providing a way to get what they need, right when they need it.”
