During a Variety interview for the Power of Women issue on November 13, Billie Eilish openly discussed her challenges in connecting with women in the past. She candidly admitted, “I never felt like I could relate to girls very well. I love them so much. I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m attracted to them for real.”
Surprisingly, despite Billie’s global fame, her decision to come out resulted in an unexpected consequence: a loss of 100,000 followers on Instagram. Social Blade recorded her follower count at around 110,300,420 before her candid revelations.
Following this interview, just under 45,000 of the 100,000 followers were lost after December 2, when Billie Eilish reaffirmed her coming out during a red carpet interview at Variety’s Hitmakers event.
In response to a question about whether she intended to come out, Billie Eilish expressed surprise, saying, “I kind of thought, ‘Wasn’t it obvious?’ I didn’t realize people didn’t know.”
