“Unpregnant” takes audiences on a wild, unexpectedly light-hearted journey through the complexities of teenage life and the lengths a girl has to go to in order to make a personal choices. Veronica and her best friend Bailey decide to take a road trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the procedure can be done without parental involvement, but they can’t really afford the trip which leads to all kinds of mayhem as they set out to travel there anyway.
The chemistry between the lead characters, Veronica and Bailey, adds a delightful layer to the narrative. As the two face off about unresolved issues from their past friendship, the audience is treated to a blend of humor and heartfelt moments between two girls who are genuinely friends. The unexpected twists and turns, including encounters with pro-lifers, and a surprising revelation about a secret attraction, adds a hint of tension and suspense, the good kind.
The film skillfully weaves in important themes about choice, friendship, and the lengths one is willing to go to take control of their life. It manages to balance humor with the gravity of the situation, making it both entertaining and thought-provoking.
