Women and girls of color are invited to the annual A Call to Women of Color, which focuses on empowering women and girls of color to engage in conversation and promote healthy living among women.
Admission is free to the Common Ground Health event, which takes place from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Roundhouse Pavilion at Genesee Valley Park.
The theme of this year’s event is Young, Gifted and Black: The Dreams of Our Elders. The keynote speakers for the event are Dr. Mary Bisbee-Burrows, Martha Hope and Shanterra Mitchum. Featured performers during the day include Agape Haven of Abundance Showcase, Nhaziah Bedell-Scott, Miz Ebony Encourages, The Black Pearls Dance Troupe, Divine Line Dancers, Adrianna Santucci, Myra Brown and Patricia Cathey.
Throughout the day, Trillium Health is offering free HIV, Hepatitis C, STI screenings and vaccinations. Eastman Institute of Oral Health will offer screenings. Common Ground Health’s Faith and Healthy Lifestyles program will offer free blood pressure screenings.
Organized by women of color for women of color, the event also features a diverse group of vendors, including female entrepreneurs, crafters and nonprofits sharing information.
