Katie Taylor avenged her only professional boxing loss by securing a victory over Chantelle Cameron, solidifying her status as a two-weight undisputed boxing champion. The Irishwoman, now boasting a record of 23-1, clinched the win with judges scoring the bout 98-92, 96-94, and 95-95 at Dublin’s 3Arena on Saturday night. This victory comes six months after Cameron secured a majority decision against Taylor in the same venue.
Katie’s lightweight belts were not at stake in this match, but she successfully added Cameron’s world super-lightweight titles at 140 pounds to her collection.
In the post-fight celebration, the 37-year-old Katie expressed her relief, stating, “That was the longest six months of my life waiting for this rematch. Tonight, you’ve seen the real me, and when I box like that, nobody can beat me.”
Born in Bray, near Dublin, Katie Taylor’s journey from a girl pretending to be a boy for the chance to compete to becoming a two-weight undisputed champion is a testament to her remarkable career. She has carried women’s boxing on her back for over a decade, achieving numerous milestones, including claiming Olympic gold for Ireland in 2012 and reigning atop two weight classes as a professional. Katie’s legacy in combat sports continues to grow, and she remains a queen of the ring.
Katie’s record is now 18-1.
